Hi Pau,

Sorry for the delay in my response. As you have probably guessed, I do not have a definitive answer. It should work. The best way to check is to download OpenICE to your computer and connect the MP50 via a serial adapter. I can help you with the setup details if you'd like.

If the protocol description of the MP50 (with your software version) matches the MP70 rev J protocol, it should be compatible. One thing to watch out for that might be different is the MP50's pinout on the RJ45 serial port - check your manual for the right pinout.

Thanks,
Jeff
Hi Rado,

Just checking in to see how things are going with your project. Where you able to connect the MP70 via serial connection successfully? If not, please write back and include your MP70 software version. This may help clue us into the problem.

Thanks,
Jeff
Hi Alistair,

Please try the connection again with OpenICE v0.6.2. We fixed a critical bug that affected the Philips device-adapter software.

We have successfully tested a MP70 rev J and MX800 rev J with this software revision.

Thanks,
Jeff
Hey Thomas,

As an incremental step in fixing the problems listed above, please download OpenICE v0.6.2. There is a minor bug fix that had major impact on instantiating the Philips LAN device-adapter. After you upgrade, shoot me back a message with what doesn't work still and we'll get you running.

Hi Vasanth,

Beaglebones Blacks do not have a real time clock and thus require time synchronization after each boot. We have taken several approaches to time synchronization over the years. The simplest approach is to give your Beaglebones access to the Internet, specifically pool.ntp.org. Our current approach is to use our Cisco router as a NTP time server. To do this, we had to configure DHCP Option 42 in the DHCP pool configuration to the address of the router and point the router to the US NTP pool. Neither of these options require edits to the Beaglebone's NTP configuration file at /etc/ntp.conf although your eventual solution may be different.

I would suggest searching Beaglebone or Linux forums for time synchronization options and setup assistance. I've copied a link below that might be a good place to start.
